Temporary Stadium at Empire Field

BC Place Stadium will be closed from the spring of 2010 until the summer of 2011, in order to permit the construction of its new retractable roof.

While these final renovations to BC Place are being completed, Vancouver MLS 2011 will play the first few home matches of their inaugural 2011 season at a specially-erected temporary stadium located at Empire Fields at the PNE, the former site of Empire Stadium. 

For soccer matches, the temporary stadium will feature a soccer-specific configuration with seating capacity of approximately 20,000, similar to the seating capacity for soccer matches at the new BC Place. 

The temporary stadium will also be home to the BC Lions, for their 2010 season. The football configuration of the stadium provides a seating capacity of approximately 27,500.
